RELEASE DATE JULY 30th
Low Res Records is back, more diverse than ever, and staying ahead of the curve with 'Carbon' from Dutch artist Meander (Conrad Hoyer, aka Ophidian). His first full-length release on Low Res as Meander, 'Carbon' sets a high expressive standard with eight brand-new tracks as well as the four tracks from the 2008 Low Res release 'Dreaming in Reverse' (LOW 021), which was previously available only on 12" vinyl.
Hoyer's automated musical landscapes trap listeners in a Kubrickian maze of intricate, floor-shaking rhythms and tapestries of synthesizer explorations. Throughout the album, educated restraint meets uninhibited energy in a roller coaster of different textures and colors.
Hoyer is no stranger to music composition, having earned a Bachelor of Music Composition and Production degree from the Utrecht School of Arts in 2004. Since then, he has continued to expand and diversify his accomplishments, which now include studio engineering, mastering, and producing/composing for the video game industry.
Meander's debut release on Low Res, 'Dreaming in Reverse' (LOW 021) was designed explicitly to push the envelope as far as possible and was met with critical praise, sizzling hot sales and wide regard as his best work to date. The future is just beginning for the Netherlands' brightest young talent, and Low Res is proud to deliver his most ambitious effort to date as the harbinger of more diversity and great things to come from the label.
